10 Key Words Again!

Teen movie - a movie which is specifically targeted at a target audience of teenagers = A clear example of Kidulthood.


Human interest - A topic that appeals to the audience = Many teenagers would enjoy this movie, but would not necessarily relate to it.


Racism - a form of discrimination based on race = When the boys bump into the older boys in Central London, Jay feels as if they are picking on him because of the fact that he is white.



Social realism: representation of characters and issues to raise serious issues - In kidulthood we face issues such as Teenage pregnancy and Gun crime etc.



Resolution - When a problem created in the movie is resolved at the end = in this case its Trife and Alisa getting back together.



Target Audience- Intended audience for a media product. In this case we would see the primary audience as teenagers themselves and a secondary audience of parents.



Ideology - Belief and Value of Something discussed by a group of people. Some people may relate to kidulthood whereas otters will feel its to exaggerated.



Power - Controlling of certain groups in society = this would be seen as a role Sam follows as he is in charge of the playground.



Sexism - Discrimination on the basis of sex = The way the girls are represented in the text is shown as negative.



Deviance - Acts that are unaccepted in society = Many people would disagree with what they see in Kidulthood, and would think of it as a completely negative representation of what teenagers really are like.
